There are some ceremonies that stay with you long after the last piece of the confetti has fallen, and Kath and Mike’s wedding ceremony at Kingston Maurward was truly one of those days.
Set in the stunning Red Garden, their ceremony, officiated by me, unfolded beside the tranquil pond, surrounded by their closest friends and family. The setting alone was breathtaking in August with lush greenery, vibrant blooms, and the peaceful Dorset countryside creating the perfect backdrop for a deeply personal and heartfelt celebration.

From the very beginning, it was clear that Kath and Mike wanted a ceremony that reflected not just their love story, but the life they’ve already built together, especially with their daughter, Robyn at the heart of it all.
We met in person around a year to go for a wonder through the gardens and to share thoughts and ideas. It's always so useful to do this because it truly does give you lots of inspiration when you're walking the route of your venue that you will do so on your wedding day.
A Wedding Ceremony Full of Meaningful Moments

One of the most touching elements of the ceremony was the handfasting. Both Kath and Mike’s mum each created the cords themselves, making the ritual even more meaningful. As they stepped forward to present them, there was such a powerful sense of family, love, and unity woven into that moment, quite literally.
Kath and Mike also made promises to their daughter Robyn, which added a beautiful layer to the ceremony. It wasn’t just about two people coming together, but about celebrating the family they already are. So not only was this about their marriage union it was also about their family union.
And then, just when guests thought the ceremony couldn’t get any more memorable… it ended with a reading from a friend that had everyone smiling. What began as a heartfelt speech turned into the unmistakable lyrics of “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley - a perfectly unexpected and joyful twist that captured Kath and Mike’s sense of fun so brilliantly. The three of us watched the guests intently to see who guessed it first!
A Love Story Shared by the Water

Their ceremony was filled with warmth, laughter, and genuine emotion. Sharing their love story beside the pond, with their guests gathered closely around, created such an intimate and romantic atmosphere. These are the moments that make a ceremony feel truly special, when everyone present feels connected, included, and part of something meaningful.
Kingston Maurward: A Truly Versatile Wedding Venue

Kingston Maurward House offers so much more than just one beautiful setting. While the Red Garden is ideal for outdoor ceremonies like Kath and Mike’s, the estate also boasts a variety of stunning locations for couples to choose from.
From elegant indoor spaces within the historic house to other picturesque areas of the gardens, there’s a perfect spot for every style of celebration, whether you’re dreaming of something grand, intimate, traditional, or completely unique. It’s a venue that allows couples to really make the space their own.
I'm thankful and honoured to be a recommended supplier and you may often find me at their seasonal off-peak wedding fairs they hold, (typically in Autumn and Winter).
Captured Perfectly by Hollyhock Photography

It’s always a joy to work alongside Holly of Hollyhock Photography, and Kath and Mike’s day was no exception. Her ability to capture those natural, emotional moments so beautifully is something I absolutely love. From the quiet glances to the bursts of laughter, every detail was documented with such care and artistry.
We also shared a hilarious moment where Holly decided to take a short cut and jump the gate from the main road to the ceremony area so she would beat the bride. I was trusted with holding her cameras and we couldn't stop laughing at the things we do as Dorset wedding suppliers!
Why Choose an Independent Celebrant for your Dorset Wedding Ceremony?

Kath and Mike’s ceremony is a perfect example of what’s possible when you choose an independent celebrant.
Unlike traditional, more restrictive options, a celebrant-led ceremony gives you complete freedom to create something entirely personal. There are no set scripts, no limitations, just the opportunity to tell your story, your way.
As a Dorset wedding celebrant, I take the time to really get to know each of my couples. We chat, we laugh, we dig into your story, how you met, what makes you tick (and give you the ick!) and, what matters most to you. From there, I craft a completely bespoke ceremony script that reflects who you are as individuals and as a couple.
Want to include a handfasting? Absolutely. Personal vows? Of course. A reading that surprises everyone and makes them laugh? Even better. If you can dream it, we can include it.
My aim is always to create a ceremony that feels authentic, engaging, and truly unforgettable, not just for you, but for everyone sharing that moment with you. Something that feels like you, and like nothing anyone has seen before.
A Wedding Ceremony to Remember

Kath and Mike’s wedding was the perfect blend of romance, personality, and heartfelt connection. From the handcrafted handfasting cords to their promises to Robyn, and that iconic final reading, every element was chosen with love and intention.
It was such a privilege to be part of their day and to help bring their story to life in such a beautiful setting.
If you’re planning your own wedding and want a ceremony that feels just as personal, meaningful, and memorable, I’d love to help you create it.
I'm booking now for 2027 and 2028 but I do have some limited off-peak Autumn 2026 dates available so get in touch sooner rather than later!
